Podcasting

Given the brief overview on podcasting, please share your thoughts/questions about podcasting. In addition, whether you can impletment it or not - how might you be able to use it in the classroom if the technology were available to you? Give at least one specific example.

I am very interested in beginning Podcasting in my classroom. I can see several applications for its use. I might assign a group of students a particular section of a chapter and have them put it on a Podcast for students that are absent, or even as a "Radio Show" for students to add some of their own input to the topic in class. I'd love to do some Podcasting in my AVID class, perhaps as feedback for college essays or even as a comment board for various colleges of their choosing. As soon as I can get this started, I will!

I think podcasting is very interesting. I definitely feel that I need much more training before I would launch something from my classroom. I am sure there are tons of Health podcasts out there that I could use as additional resources. It would be nice to find another health/fitness teacher out there who has used one and how they implement it into their class. Maybe I can find one!

Well, I attempted to podcast with my government classes, and looking back, it was a lot more successful than I initially thought it would be. Thanks to Christine who spent a long night putting them on the CTHS Home Site. It was one of those "hit-and-miss" assignments, more of a "shoot first and ask questions later" type thing. The students were very patient, but the technology was quirky. Every once in a while I'd have a group who's audio skipped, or deleted altogether. There are a lot of specifics that the students MUST do, otherwise there project wouldn't be completed. I will be doing Podcasting again, with my AVID classes as a Final Exam type thing. Now I know what to look for and how to toubleshoot (a bit), I think I'll be more successful.
